Paint Yo' Face Flawless

Amber's a makeup artist not a magician. Wash your face!

So you want a flawless face? So does every other girl in this world. Sadly, makeup can only do so much. Yes, I said it! Makeup is my life, pays my bills and fulfills my passion, but I'm here to tell you that unless you take care of your skin, it doesn't matter.

Of course we all want live-in makeup artists to greet us before we leave the house a la Gisele Bundchen and the Kardashians. Not to mention their instant access to airbrushing and spray tans on the regular. But, don't fret, there is a way to clean skin for us wannabes.

1.  Exfoliate. Now, this doesn't mean to scrub the hell out of your skin leaving you irritated. This can be achieved every day with the use of toner. Toner can be used twice a day, comes in alcohol free, for normal to combo, or oily. Great for blackheads, pores, oily skin. Remember to apply moisturizer immediately after though. I recommend Chanel's Lotion Confort, Doucer, or Purete $45 or try Clinique's clarifying lotions.

No matter the severity of your exhaustion or alcohol consumption, please scrub your face.

2. Moisturize! Want to keep wrinkles away? Keep that sun kissed tan you got on spring break? Stop you from looking like a leather handbag? Then moisturize the hell out of your skin. I recommend Clinique's moisture surge, lancome's Bienfiat, and Chanel's Hydrabeauty cream. They all come in both oil free and one for dry skin. Have vitamins and antioxidants to keep your skin looking fresh and hydrated.

3.  Lay a GOOD foundation. If you need something every day for a light to medium coverage I recommend Chanel's Vitalumiere Aqua $45 (numerous celeb makeup artists favorite) and Laura Mercier's tinted moisturizer. If you need something more full coverage, I recommend Lancome's Tient Idole 24hr wear. It's great for covering acne and acne scarring, dark spots, and unevenness $45. Also MAC's studio fix is great for full coverage as well.

Amber D'Angelo, who you might see us refer to as "sister #2" on the blog, is a Boston bred gal and Chanel makeup artist. Find Amber at Saks Boston.
